Hi, I'm Jan-Erik.

What I enjoy most about computer science is that it can be applied to almost anything. For me, it's less about computers themselves and more about using software to explore the things I'm passionate about.

Oceans have been a major love of mine all my life. I've been diving into topics like marine systems, remote sensing, underwater mapping, and computer vision, looking for ways technology can help us better understand the underwater world. I love building small tools, experiments, and side projects, and I'm working towards turning some of them into products.

I also enjoy building things away from the keyboard. Whether it's woodworking, furniture, electronics, home improvement projects, or maintaining our wooden sailing boat, I like understanding how things work and creating them myself.

Outside, you'll usually find me near the ocean—sailing, kiteboarding, surfing, or windsurfing—or climbing rocks and playing beach volleyball. I also enjoy sketching, especially when I'm traveling or spending time outdoors. One of my long-term goals is to cross the Atlantic by sailboat in 2028.

This website is where I share the projects I'm building, the ideas I'm exploring, and the occasional adventure along the way.
